North Country Rivers is THE "premier" white water rafting and adventure vacation provider in Maine. Our 60-acre resort and campground (the largest and most complete in Maine) is located "ON" the banks of the Kennebec River in the great north woods of Maine. Yet, we're still only 30-minutes from civilization! From here, we launch our wide selection of adventure trips and rentals.
From our large Kennebec-Dead resort & campground, we run Kennebec River whitewater rafting trips, Dead River whitewater rafting trips, and Penobscot River whitewater rafting trips. We also offer 3-season ATV riding trips and rentals, winter snowmobiling tours and rentals, kayaking, fly fishing trips, on-site & local group/family activities - as well as great hiking and biking.
For those who plan on running whitewater rafting the Penobscot River, we also have our Penobscot region base resort outpost - located in Millinocket, Maine - (right at the entrance to Baxter State Park). We offer 3 levels of Maine cabin rentals (all with with full amenities - including Wi-Fi and cable TV). Our Maine rental cabin vary in size, and handle a minimum of 2 to 48 people; to serve youth groups, families and couples. We also are a top-tier campground; offering tent-site, platform tent camping, and RV camping options. Besides offering full services to tent campers and RV campers, we also have a restaurant, a pub, and also indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
In the summer, Maine whitewater rafting, Maine ATV riding, Moose and wildlife watching, hiking, biking and site-seeing are most popular. We see ATV riding growing rapidly in popularity; due to the large (and ever-growing) trail network in Maine, and because it's "really fun". ATV's get you deep into the Maine wilderness fast. And if you've never "tried" an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), you can see what their all about by going on one of our guided "evening express ATV rides". They're short trips that leave in the late afternoon. They're a perfect "end-of-day" activity (to enjoy riding, see a great sunset and even some wildlife)!
